We were recently invited to take part in a conference call on the upcoming Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2. This is the DS port of Naruto RPG 3, which was released in Japan. This title will feature approximately 29 playable characters (30 total, with a choice between 2 characters at the end), each having several usable jutsu. The system will also allow you to customize your usable jutsu and other attributes. Path of the Ninja 2 will feature a brand new storyline, which features villains who seek to unleash an ancient beast. While the storyline is new, it will also feature battles from the series itself in flashback-like form. The wireless portion of the game will feature your 4-man squad taking on someone else’s. Path of the Ninja 2 for DS will hit stores September 2008.

For those who watched the Naruto anime filler, you’ll find the villains of Path of the Ninja 2 familiar, as they share designs with the villain characters in Naruto episodes 195 and 196.

Also at present there are no plans to port over Naruto RPG 2. This was mainly because of the release schedule for the anime, as the story of RPG 2 would be farther back in the story by this point. While RPG 3 encapsulates the story through Sasuke’s leaving the village.
