what the heck was that, the first half of that episode was weird, as much as i like this guys animation style, but ahhh….need to watch it again, second half was really well done though

All I can say….is HOLY SHIT—I read the manga and this episode surpassed all of my expectations. The animation was top notch, the action was amazing and the music was extraordinary—not to mention the build up throughout the episode. This is bar none the most epic Naruto episode ever. Period.

this was WAY different from the manga. but cool still n a lot better. i didnt like all the ugly faces they made though. Pain is suppose to be ‘cool’

It’s a little different from the manga, Naruto hammering Pein into he ground was hilarious, but that rapid fire chakra laser thingy was more like Dragoball than Naruto, and Eight-tails Naruto spewed fire like a dragon, which makes sense because the Ninetailed Fox is the “god of fire” in chinese mythology.

They added some filler and focused too much on the transformed Naruto, look the manga and then watch this episode and its like uhh? Pein’s faces were very poorly done, but the end with Minato saving Naruto was good, good thing your father included that fail-safe eh Naruto?

Don’t expect the anime to be entirely based on the manga, you know. I thought it was a good episode, but it sucked when it ended where Naruto finally meets his father. Looks like the animation’s returning to its normal self on the next one, though.

The animation was amazing. What are yall talking about? It was all the nice drawn animation. It was used to reflect the craziness of the battle.

I thought it was a a great battle and much longer. This was a very good episode for me even though pain looked wierd sometimes, it was very good. Plus, this gives 6tails a better arrsenal of movements and maybe just maybe it will be it Storm 2?!

Didn’t much like the animation that accompanied this episode… it looked like the animation that was used in making the ANIMATRIX, but… if to put it in words, this animation could be called “soft” and the cool, serious animation that normally is used would be “rough”… I’d like the rough animation better. Still a satisfactory episode, though.

Ok the first have was wired it semmed like more of comedythe than real fight especially with pain but the rest was awsome 🙂

yeah i definitely didnt care for how they did Pains face during the battle. it threw the whole episode off for me. i liked the ending with Minato though! 🙂

Overall good episode. Ya the Pain faces kinda made it a little silly but still a great episode. Good animation, music, battle, everything was good but Pain’s expressions.

In this epic batle all u care is the ugly face pain does and the animations?? this batle is the best so far and the music is great. it was beyond all my predictions… what a chapter

At first I was confused by the bizarre and distorted look of the characters during the animation, and thought I wouldn’t like it, but after some thought, I realised that it was absolutely awesome. It was [i]hilarious[/i]!
Naruto hammers Pain into the rock with a friggin’ [i]mountain[/i], and all Pain does is ask “do you hate me?” How is that not hilarious?
I mean, I didn’t expect a fight between despairing Naruto being consumed by the Nine-Tails and Pain just after he destroyed Konoha to be played for comedic value, but this is seriously the most entertained by [i]Naruto[/i] I’ve been in years. This fight made me laugh more from its sheer awesome than I did by playing Hidan getting knocked around by Chiriku’s flying fist jutsu in a continuous loop.
It’s a bit off-putting, compared to the general feeling the anime had been giving off, in fact it felt a bit like awesomeness one would get from a comic… Superman fighting twin clones of Hitler, or something.
Anyway, while a bit weird, I have to recognise this episode’s beyond epic awesomeness, especially in contrast to the characters just staring at each other and talking, like we’ve seen too much recently.

at first it felt kinda of…but the animation made it quite well, i think it was this way because they wanted to highlight the virtiginous battle that it was….butmaybe the hammering pain was too much tho.
Anyway, the rest of the chapter was so damn nice, it felt like they were ending the anime with yondaimen in the end…thumbs up for the chapter, sadly next week no episode it seems

I’m sorry but I’m VASTLY dissapointed of this episode. I even made a pein death counter – just in the first 8 minutes pein should have died about 11 times!!! because just touching the kyuubi’s skin will burn off that bodypart.

by far a great episode , but the emotion showed by pain was a little far fecht. all of the add in were crazy . the animator did a good job on the episode as a whole but pain never smiled or screamed in the chapters . the next one will be crazy , now naruto gets to talk to his dad “the 4th hokage”

did anyone notice naruto using the mokuton in this episode . and if not how did he make all those roots come out of the ground to hold up all those rocks .

This episode reminded me of “looney tunes”… Except there was the use of steroids somewhere along the lines to improve comical sssstufffff…

Guess what I’m disappointed about… That people are complaining about pain… you beeps stop complaining about pain, can you do any better? HUH? Do you want to animate the episode? HUH? >:D
Honestly, I LOVE THE EPISODE (I think pain looked perfectly fine!) The animation was beautiful. Thank you very MUCH. >:3! This episode was far beyond my expectations. :] AWESOME JOB AND AWESOME EPISODE. Everything was PERFECT!!! PERIOD. 😀

To all the people complaining about the way pein looked in this episode, you should slap yourselves. What, is he supposed to have the perfect hair and the perfect facial expressions during a fight that he was taking seriously? i mean, really, have any of you ever been in a fight? if so, next time have a friend of yours video tape it, i want to see your perfect face throughout.
I know its just a cartoon, but really, lets ruin the episode by making it less emotional, and epic by making the characters look perfect in every clip. The music and animation was amazing, i enjoyed it, can’t wait for the next one!

so..that must mean madara is Cell, I wonder who buu might be? maybe the 10tails since buu and 10tails both need a large collection of chakra to be reborn 😉

@34 Pein is already dead, he’s being controlled by those chakra sensors, Nagato must have some sort of ability or w/e inside of the bodies he controls, i mean, wouldn’t the bones become brittle after death? we will never know for sure.

@ 34 actually its not hard to explain his resistance, because he´s dead, he cant feel pain and the black chakra receivers mantainn total control of the body…i guess it can be, and also this time nagato was just controling one body, not six…

T’was seriously pathetic to see tendo making those comical faces…. n getting hammered to the ground like a tom and jerry character was totally absurd… c’mon animators, maintain the personalities created by the manga!!!!

animation was really similar to one in animatrix. i liked the music too. but what about pain and naruto? their powers were used in a little bit strange way, dont you think? how tendou bring out the water? how naruto bring on the trees? and so on…i hope anime wont try to “think” by itself next time

The Manga Version Bloody OWNS this anime one. I Was EXTREMELY Disappointed by this weeks anime. Seriously. I Felt like hanging myself after i saw the fact that Pain was crushed like 50 times and suvived. STARTED to jump onto the kyubi ( Funny? I Thought the kyubi’s skin could pretty much burn anything?! ) And the animation was poor.
Lets hope this weeks episode is better….

@31 It’s not that some of us are complaining we were just a little disappointed is all. And if you have examined Pain’s attitude and just the kind of person he is, he just isn’t the kind of guy to scream and shout. Even in the hardest of battles he keeps cool. So in my view it just seemed like Naruto wasn’t even fighting Pain.

its necessary to add some additional scene to lengthen that particular chapter in 1 episode.
but 167 looks weird…
eg:
shouting Pein with crazy face (rush made),
Pein hammering by kyubbi naruto (suppose to be withstand with shinra tensei or dodge it)
delay activation of seal after turning into 6 tailed
pein blasted away(looks weird after Pein’s HEAD hits on the land. supposed to be a simple high impact) after kyubbi withstand shinra tensei.
after kyubbi naruto hit by shibaku tensei… kyubbi supposed to be fired the chakra blast and made another massive scar on land, right side of hokage maountain
and the last one…
kyubbi naruto moving fast surrounded by water on the air… (looks white kyubbi naruto) LOLz
the rest are perfectly made

shame, i went online to see if the new epi came out and its going to be delayed until next week. :(. looks like this episode was pretty much divided. you either hated it or loved it. I am on the side of digging it. I loved the fluidity of the animation. it wasnt still, there were some parts that you can see they got “lazy” in some of the frames, but overall i think it was very well done. It’s not the best one ever done, look back at the episode of Shika dealing with Asuma’s death. That was simply brilliant. They broke the bank on that epi. That episode was by far the best one I had ever seen in the Ship series, bar none. Still I like how fluid this one went, and the speed they used with the frames. It was appropriate. I understand everyone’s gripe about Pein, because dude was emotionless, there was no emotion on his face, ever. Sure you can see the hair blowing, and the clothes being tattered and and blown apart, but I never once recalled seeing emotion on any of the pein bodies. however, with the wind and the blasts coming from Kyuubi, how can you not see Motion, its not Emotion i see coming from Pein but the waves of g-forces he’s getting smashed with by the Kyuubi’s power. It’s not emotion. I dont ever recall hearing him scream either. The agape mouth was just a visual tool, thats what I took from it anyway. bummer we have to wait another week, good thing the manga is out already.
