like TheSparringPanther, itachi can’t just fight in the war in plain view, the allience shinobi will be to damn confused seeing him on their side, after all, they know he is dead and back by means of edo tensei, so they know he (as far as they know) is on the enemy side, he can’t just go out helping saying “oh no, don’t worry, i had planned for this, i used shisui’s MS n put a genjutsu on myself that makes me protect the konoha village, so its all cool”…yeah, who is going to believe that?
Like i said, he will help the allience, but he will do it from within the shadows, in secret, he isn’t necessarily keeping any
