One of the most intense episodes in Naruto history. Plain and simple. I was hoping that Studio Perriot would animate this with the best animator they had and I assumed correctly. It was perfectly translated from page to television flawlessly. This is one of those integral moments in the plot that shouldn’t be botched by subpar animation.
I loved all the filler moments between Zetsu and the added flashbacks for Obito. It really added character and dimension to his persona and also made audiences more sympathetic.

Easily one of the best episodes of naruto so far. I was impressed with the animation as well with the fighting scene. The ending left my speachless with the pool of blood and it dripping from the tree; I’m just glad like the comment above me said they kept it close to the manga.

I agree with the top comments, I would also like to add that Obito as a character seems more realistic to me than the character of Naruto. It’s just my opinion 😉

@Uchihadomo
Yea I noticed that too, when obito went on a rampage and was screaming you could feel the intensity and anger in his voice
January 17th, 2014 at 11:43 am
Wow. I’m so glad they didn’t cut the violence in this one. Great episode, period!

Spiral’s still my favorite Zetsu
January 18th, 2014 at 3:20 pm
wow
I am just so glad I stopped reading the manga years ago . This is just amazing! I am just sad that I need to wait till next week for the new episode. But now after seeing this it makes your view changes on them being evil I guess 😛 …
January 18th, 2014 at 5:09 pm
@8 Oh you’re not going to be disappointed my friend. Next one or two episodes will continue this origin story and if they won’t mess it up it’s going to be both great and sad at the same time. Till next week!

Well that wasn’t a reason to turn bad.just saying
January 20th, 2014 at 1:12 pm
It was certainly a valid reason to become disillusioned and evil. He saw the woman he loved get killed by his Bestfriend in plain sight. The emotional trauma he went through was probably unprecedented. A girl who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with and his Bestfriend whom he wanted to surpass one day. His whole reason for training so diligently was to get back to them.
January 20th, 2014 at 1:36 pm
@10 In his head he isn’t evil. He wants to “repair” the world so that everyone (including him) can be happy.
@11 But you have to admit that it’s hard to take those “loves” seriously when they are all something like 12-13.
January 20th, 2014 at 1:49 pm
They aren’t even 12-13 here, more like 15/16. And despite that, love is a profound thing and it effects people in different ways. Some people are impervious to getting hurt by love while others are more susceptible. And Obito happened to be vulnerable. That still doesn’t excuse her getting killed by his Bestfriend.
January 20th, 2014 at 4:47 pm
Regardless 14, the point still stands that it was very traumatizing and would be traumatizing for any one person to bear. Obito, who mirrors Naruto, are both impulsive and brash so then therefore is it so hard to believe Obito’s reaction?
January 20th, 2014 at 11:44 pm
Lol just remembering when naruto smacked obito’s mask with a rasengan,i’ve never seen him terrified like that.he was so confused that he asked naruto who he was lmao.
kakashi killed rin because the mists were trying to make her the 3 tails jinchuriki.
January 21st, 2014 at 6:45 am
Imagine naruto seeing Sasuke kill Sakura (I would be so happy). Naruto probably would have behaved almost the same but probably worst. He almost lost when hinata almost died and he doesn’t really care for her as much as Sakura. Naruto is just lucky he was born by two great shinobis,

rin also made the choice herself to die, and threw herself on the lightning blade.

My time here is up:(…now I can’t spoil all the good stuff:(…lemme’ try…did you know that madara has extracted the kyuubi from naruto
January 21st, 2014 at 11:29 am
@17 you pissed me off
January 22nd, 2014 at 2:35 am
@Eddy
Tobi, Rin and Kakashi in the flashback was around 13. 15 max.
January 22nd, 2014 at 2:52 am
Aaahh, well thanks for the clarification. I don’t think it was ever explicitly stated so I had to infer. @korss

@Eddy
No, that sort of info only comes from the data books unfortunately :p

I am so angry at number 16 who spoiled the reason behind rin’s death . You think you are cool because you read the manga. Second time someone spoils naruto for me .
