In the biggest news to hit the Naruto anime in probably forever, TV Tokyo will be launching online streaming of the Shippuuden series hours after it airs on TV. The streams will include English subs, challenging sub groups directly for the first time. To watch the subs though, you will have to be a paid monthly subscriber to the Crunchyroll video service to watch the videos. Pricing for the service is currently unknown. The first episode will hit the service January 8th.
To coincide with this new push, Viz will be streaming the subtitled Shippuuden Episodes for free one week after airing on Japanese TV starting January 15th. The first 8 episodes of Shippuuden will also be subtitled and available on the official website for free. Then every subsequent week, the most recent episode along with another 8 from the beginning of the series will be put up. 8 Episodes from earlier in the series will follow each week until catching up to the current releases.
